Is this a candle holder or an open-ended tube?

Each candle chimney is a tube with open ends that allow you to cover candles from any direction. You can rest these glass covers on top of other candle holders or place them directly on any table with other decor elements. Our candle covers can protect open flames from wind and other outdoor elements.

Why don’t your bulk hurricane candle holders have a top?

If you completely cover a burning candle with a glass cover, the flame will consume all of the oxygen under the glass and convert it to carbon dioxide. Since fire must have oxygen to burn, the flame will eventually go out once all the oxygen is gone. Furthermore, a cover doesn’t allow the smoke to escape, so the flame will turn the glass black with soot.

Is it safe for the glass to be so close to the heat of the flame?

Our glass candle covers are completely safe for use with most candles. The glass is very thick to ensure it can absorb the heat of a small flame for hours without cracking. The only risk is if the wax of a candle runs out while the wick is still burning. In these cases, the wax isn’t there to absorb excess heat, which may be transferred to the glass cover, making it too hot to touch safely. Please use care when moving glass covers from lit candles.

Is it safe to leave candles burning in the glass cover overnight?

We never recommend leaving a burning candle unattended — even in one of our glass covers. You should always extinguish candles completely when leaving a room, double-checking that the wick is no longer glowing.
